Event Manager (The Food Journey Retreat Plus)
Event Manager with extensive experience in designing, planning and coordinating multi-day social justice-oriented gatherings for diverse groups needed with immediate start.

Key deliverables are:
1. To organise a retreat for our key workshop: The Food Journey©, which is a somatic and visceral workshop that explores, in a deep way, the complex narratives surrounding the question: ‘What is nourishment?’
In summary, this event will take place in the UK in a comfortable and pleasant venue a relatively short journey from London (not more than approx. 30 miles) and the invitees will be no more than 30 individuals, most if not all of these will be already known to CCK.
This will require identification and securing of a suitable venue; making contact with each person on existing invitee list and advertisement for supplementary participants; identifying and contracting a set designer, vegan, international cuisine chefs and support staff for the event; manage reading material to be used during the event, including designing suitable programme for the four-day period in collaboration with the CEO and team.
The EM will also ensure insurances and risk assessment etc are in place for the event. Finally, the EM will plan for and ensure full debriefing and participant feedback processes for the event as follow up.
2. To support the logistics for international engagement between different communities: ‘indigenous’ and ‘traditional’, for approximately 2/3 rotating team members in up to seven different locations internationally and four locations nationally.
This will involve helping to setting up an advisory committee to oversee the exploration and coordination of travellers (some of whom will be committee members) and planning for detailed logistical support between October 2025 and March 2026. The national meetings will take place at different locations in the UK. It is expected that the Event Manager will be able to support the establishment of secure contacts in each international location to ensure the planned activities can be run competently and securely and meet their objectives.
What we are looking for:
Event Management experience:
- Planning and effecting event logistics
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong empathy/lived experience with/of racially minoritised and oppressed groups locally in the UK and internationally
- Experience in the use of using social media networks to platform an event
